Since being legally established, the Crestone End of Life Project volunteers have served more than fifty individuals, their families and friends.
Each year the volunteer members of Crestone End of Life Project and Informed Final Choices meet for a day-long contemplative retreat which ends with a memorial celebration at the cremation site.
We are joined by members of the greater community whose loved ones were cremated at the open-air site. Each person’s name is spoken, their life honored and a small sprig of juniper is placed on the fire in remembrance. The gallery of photograph that follows, serves as a portrait of those we have celebrated.
The copper-work plaque at the top of this page, created by Shahna Lax of www.studiomoresca.com, is located at the entryway to the pyre site.
